SERVICES
Quixote Racing provides a wide range of services from FREE advice to new engine building, with the main emphasis on rebuilding engines for SCCA or Vintage. Phone orders are usually filled the same day and shipped the following day using the cheapest methods, unless otherwise requested by the customer. German parts are used whenever possible, and since it is a “one man” hobby business, prices are still very reasonable. A complete list of services might be found on the Quixote Racing price sheet. If you can not find what you are looking for, just call or e-mail and every effort will be made to try to meet your needs. A hard copy is also available.
Head work is performed primarily in house with some welding and seat replacement farmed out to a local machine shop specializing in seat replacement. (see details below)
Flow testing is typically completed within a day of receiving the items and reports are provided either by e-mail or phone. There is little “down time”.
Balancing of parts- crank, flywheel, pressure plate are done individually and then as a unit so any part may be replaced if the need arises.
Rods are lightened and balanced first for total weight and then end for end.Head Work:

Engine
rebuilding usually costs $600 for labor and $170 for
parts. This includes cleaning, checking weights, complete rebuilding of rods
(resize, align, rebush) cam timing check, new
bearings, seal, gaskets, setting deck height, cleaning heads,
refacing and lapping valves, adjusting spring seat
pressure and lift to maximum allowed. Turn around time is usually 4-5 weeks.
First time customers can expect slightly higher costs as unmarked exhaust valves
or those of questionable origin should not be refaced. Many times valve seats
are cut beyond what is deemed “safe” (or in some cases legal) and should be
replaced. Other items found to be unacceptable or substandard should be
replaced at this time. Customers are always contacted before any additional work
is performed.
Typical Parts (extra):
main, rod, cam bearings, main seal, gasket set, recondition your rods, , rod
bushings, reface intake / exhaust valves, points, NGK
plugs........................................~$170.00
Services also include (at least)

Truck shipping engines- I have an account with American Freightliners. Average cost is $160-220 one way cross country.
$45 crating charge if I build a crate- you get to keep the crate.
If you do not see something listed, I probably have it or can tell you where to get it.
Advice is ALWAYS free and just a phone call or e-mail away.
